Wildlife and You

On Center Software's main campus, located on Technology Forest Place, is a marvelous setting; in the middle of acres of forest and ponds. Wildlife is naturally drawn to this location, especially ducks and other fowl, turtles, even the occasional snake or spider.

Anyway, we are 'intruders' in their environment, not the other way around so please be as respectful and benign as possible.

This includes:

  • Do not feed any wildlife. It interferes with their normal patterns and the bread, crackers, and other snacks commonly toss to wildlife is not nutritious (see http://thewoodlandseventsblog.com/please-dont-feed-the-ducks/ for more information). Feeding the wildlife also encourages them to...well, mess up our sidewalks - this is unsightly for our employees and visitors, and can pose a health hazard.
  • Do not litter - this goes without saying, but let us make an effort to go beyond our own actions and pick up litter (if it is safe to do so) when we see it.
  • Smokers - watch those butts! Birds and other critters are like children - they put everything in their mouths and the materials cigarettes are made from are extremely dangerous to wildlife.
  • Don't touch wildlife - even if the ducks seem friendly, they are wild animals and MAY bite you.
  • Don't panic if you see a snake or a spider - most of the time, they are going to be more scared of you (you ARE bigger than any snake or spider). Avoid contact with any snake or spider, but do not hurt yourself in an attempt to flee in panic.
