 Fickling Construction, Inc. has recently switched to using On Center Software’s Quick Bid and On-Screen Takeoff to help streamline their bidding and takeoff process. Located in Jacksonville, Fickling Construction specializes in projects for the medical field, where attention to detail is critical. In addition, their jobs also include banks, churches, office buildings and retails centers.
 Disappointed after using another competing construction software suite, Mr. Floyd Huguley, an estimator for Fickling Construction, commented on how On Center Software’s Quick Bid and On-Screen Takeoff (OST) helped decrease their estimating time by 50%. Before trying out different software suites, their previous takeoff and estimating “was done with pencil and paper. Everyone knows how time consuming that was.”
For one particular project, St. Luke's Hospital Additions and Renovations, “This was a 1.5 million dollar project spread out over 28 months with 19 phases and 70 change orders. The work included was interior and exterior metal studs, insulation, drywall, lead lined drywall, ACT, Acoustical wall panels, and EIFS.” According to Floyd, “This project was in so many phases that it would have been impossible to break out the labor and materials for each area and each phase. On Center software did it with the click of the mouse.” Quick Bid and OST helped by being a “Tremendous time saver for change orders, phasing and billing as our schedule of values was broken down into labor and materials for each of the 19 phases.”
Mr. Huguley also commented that On Center’s Quick Bid and On-Screen Takeoff has affected Fickling Construction’s profit “by allowing us to concentrate more on the work and less on estimating and billing. [With On Center Software] the time savings is immeasurable. The ability to find out where a particular material is to be used is amazing. I would not be an estimator today if I had to be without Quick Bid and On Screen Takeoff.”
