I have been back and forth on buying one of these and now they are discontinued evidently in favor of a new set of products by 3D Connexion, Inc that Logitech bought, but they do not look as useful for OST (unless OnCenter will be adding extensions in their progam for the device). The NuLooq is still available though and I am going to buy one.

OK, the Nulooq came in and I am pretty impressed by it so far. Of course, it takes a minute or 2 to configure, but because it allows the modifiers like shift and ctrl for teh scroll wheel movements, it is easy to assign them ina way that I can scroll around by pushing the wheel and rotate 1/8" either way to zoom.

I will assign some of hte top buttons soon when I figure out jsut how I can use it.

The best thing is that I can now use my trackball again and do not have to settle for some tiny ball on the recent devices.

Has anyone used the 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator PE (Personal Edition)? It looks like something that can be very handy especially since the Logitech NuLOOQ Navigator has been discontinued. Anyone have feedback on this, its ease of installation and use?

hey guys, just another option for trackballs...

I've tried the trackman (not enough versatility), the microsoft trackball explorer (discontinued, expensive as heck and still not as much versatility), and a couple higher end mice. Last year I got one of these:

It's got more versatility than any other HID that I've tried & works great with OST & QB. I'd say it cuts down my trips to the keyboard by about 2/3, ctrl & shift are programmed on the unit as well as insert, pgup, pgdwn, & ctrl enter(closes condition windows)

I've seen the nulooq before, but never gave it a second glance, it'd be nice to eliminate the keyboard completely in general navigation aside from entering condition names. I might have to splurge on that & see how it does.

Edit: In looking into the connexion spacenavigator, it doesn't look like it would be at all effective in our applications as it is not really programmable, it would require specific support from OCS for it to interact properly. The nulooq appears to be more programmable for our uses.

to follow up, I purchased a nulooq a few days ago.

It's been extremely handy esp. in OST.

It does all my image zooming & panning, I use the circle on top to change pages, and the trigger points open & close dialog boxes, hit space bar, and delete.

Can't say it's very hand in QB, but the time savings in OST make it worth it. For the $35 I paid it's money well spent.

btw, don't expect anything useful out of the box, you need to spend about 15 min programming it for your needs to make it work at all for what we use it for.

What operating system are using? I ask because I do not see any drivers for Win7. If it works with no additional drivers, I am going to purchase one.

If you dont mind, where did you purchase it?

Thanks

I got mine on amazon for about $30. I'm on XP, but used it at home as well on Vista with no issues. (the first one I got was buggy, sent it back & got a new one with no issues).

I would guess it'd work, but I'd buy from someone with a good return policy in case. It doesn't take much for one of these to pay for themselves so it's worth the try.
