He was in the construction phase of a very large project and was using OST with electronic plans. He was issued an addendum that included over 20 pages of revised drawings. The architect stated that the revisions were minor and that a contract increase was not expected. He opened the revised plans and did a detailed comparison of those to the originals using the Overlay feature in OST. He documented the changes he saw marked in red and blue on each revision and sent them to each subcontractor affected by the change and asked them if in fact there were no additional costs. After all of the information came back to him the total add in costs to the contract was over 1.4 million dollars. He immediately called the architect to schedule a meeting. With the help of OST and the Overlay feature he was able to prove to the architect and owner that a contract increase was justifiable. Never take anything for granted.

Clear and concise colored takeoffs can be used to make a good impression on potential clients when making a presentation or selling a bid. The owners and architects do not have to worry about accuracy and clarity of bids when they see the printed takeoff done with On Screen Takeoff. Along with this, the estimators and project managers can feel confident in their bid knowing the quantities measured are exact and verifiable. Several of the members were excited about seeing a program like On Screen Takeoff that can help them utilize the electronic image files they are now receiving.
